Heritage Week 2010 at Kilkenny Castle:

Free Admission:  21 to 29 August  -  16:00 to 17:00 each day (with exception of Sundays 21 and 29 August when admission will be free from 9:00 to 17:00)

Heritage Week Talks  -  Free of Charge:

  • 'Meet The Butlers' -  A talk on the Butler Family on Sunday 22 August at 15:00  -  Meeting point at the Castle's Reception
  • 'The Life and Times of the First Duke of Ormonde'  -  A talk on Sundays 22 and 29 August at 15:00 in the Mediaeval Room
  • 'Architectural Visit'  -  Outdoor visit of the Castle on Sundays 22 and 29 August at 11am.  Meeting point at Castle's Main Entrance Door.  This talk may re-locate to the Mediaeval Room in the event of adverse weather conditions.

Wednesday 25 August 2010'An Evening of Irish Music, Song and Dance' with Ceoltoiri Kilkenny at The Parade Tower

Show starts at 8:30pm and will run until 10:30pm

Thursday 26 August 2010  -   The Building Limes Forum of Ireland in collaboration with Kilkenny County Council will host the Kilkenny launch of Pat McAfee's new book  'Lime Works' at The Parade Tower, Kilkenny Castle. 

The launch will be preceded by a short series of lectures on the history and use of building limes with speakers as follows:  Ivor McElveen, Conservation Engineer and BLFI Chairman; Michael O'Boyle, Conservation Architect; Grainne Shaffrey, Conservation Architect and Edward Moran, Local Historian.
