'The Porous Museum' will build on the national emphasis that has been
placed on the Irish Diaspora in 2013, enacting its own 'gathering' of
professionals that recognizes and promotes the powerful networks and
affinities which distinguish the Irish Museum community. In sessions
which foreground domestic and international flows of professional
expertise, learning and cooperation - between Irish museums and their
international counterparts - this year's conference will explore the
relationships that enervate and strengthen Ireland's cultural institutions.

Invited speakers and conference participants will share their
experiences and expertise on a wide range of topics,
including: enhancing links and networks to academia and partner
institutions; professional development pathways and international
exchange opportunities; interfaces between exhibitions and
education; promoting public access and developing our audiences;
responding to and transforming through public reform processes.
