Dublin Castle - Programme of Events and Exhibitions 2019 (PDF)

Dear Visitor,

Dublin Castle is a bustling, dynamic cultural site at the centre of our capital city.

A Strategic Development Plan for the continued conservation and development of this site has been commissioned by the OPW and Fáilte Ireland. This will be launched in the Spring of 2019 and charts the next steps for the future of this site for the decade ahead. We are very excited about bringing this plan to public attention and hope to engage your support.

As numbers attending our tours and events at Dublin Castle approach 500,000 visitors, the team here at the Castle work extremely hard to continue to provide great experiences to you. This work involves conservation of existing interiors and the opening of new rooms with displays. For 2019, the Battleaxe Staircase conservation works will be completed and three new rooms to the west of the State Apartments will open to visitors including display of the Synott Collection, Schorr Collection and the De Gree Room. This is all part of our commitment to you, our visitor, to ensure your visit is one that exceeds your expectations. Our ‘secret garden’ in the city is lovingly minded by our dedicated gardener Mark O’Brien. Make sure to visit and take in this particularly marvellous sanctuary in the city.

I would like to thank all of the Dublin Castle team for their very high performance in delivering a great programme of Events and Exhibitions for our visitors. A particular thanks to Aisling Gaffney for co-ordinating our annual programme together with Hugh Bonar, Dave Cummins, Stephen Tobin, Siobhan Groark, Christiaan Feehan, Jennifer Laverty, Dee Rogers, Fergal Martin, Jenny Papassotiriou, Elizabeth Willms, Cormac Molloy, Joanne Bannon, William Derham, Myles Campbell, Angela Cassidy and Una Kearney.

Please spread the word about the many fascinating events and exhibitions on offer in this programme. It is our pleasure and privilege to invite you to immerse yourself in the treasure that is Dublin Castle.

Mary Heffernan
General Manager
