Cultural Programme 2016

Start Date: 01 Apr 2016
End Date: 31 Dec 2016
Times: See PDF below for individual times and dates

As one of the most celebrated houses in Ireland, in 2015, we welcomed just under 300,000 visitors to the estate and maintained our prestigious Museum Standard award from the Heritage Council. This award allows us to confidently display the wonderful collection of 18th and 19th century Decorative Arts throughout the house within a museum environment.

Tours of the house and its collections are available daily from the 12th March to the 31st October 2016, and Thursday to Sunday during the winter. We’re confident that 2016 is going to be another exciting and busy year at Castletown, as the team looks forward to once again hosting a wide range of exhibitions and events.

New highlights will include: Richard Gorman’s ‘CASA’ and James Fennell’s ‘Vanishing Ireland’ exhibitions and the Irish Antique Dealers Association Antique Fair in April and Roadshow in June. A new addition to our tour is a loan of portrait miniatures relating to the FitzGeralds of Carton and the Boyles of Castlemartyr. These collections have been generously donated by an anonymous donor to the Irish Georgian Society and are on loan to Castletown.

2016 will also see the first Dawn Chorus and Bat Walks on the estate, alongside a ‘Deadly Moon’ educational workshop, floral demonstrations and how to ‘upcyle’ for those ladies’ day races and summer weddings.

Please download the Castletown App before your visit. Follow us on Facebook, Castletown House & Parklands or Tweet us @opwcastletown.

We look forward to welcoming you at Castletown soon.
